Sampling and Recruiting

Sampling is the key to generalizability. Without a proper sample results are not generalizable regardless of the number of interviews done and the quality of the survey.  I  design sampling frames and determine appropriate sample sizes for general populations and special populations.  I have a particular expertise in reaching difficult-to-reach populations including rural populations, homeless, adolescents, substance users and undocumented individuals. Random, quota, and convenience sampling methods are used for in-person, mail, on-line, and telephone surveys.

Once a sample has been developed, participants must be recruited in a systematic and rigorous manner.  I have developed several strategies for call-backs and substitution that maintain the integrity of the sample design.
